le jardin du tiers paysage by gilles clément, a submarine base rooftop garden art installation

footage from the rooftop of a previously disused submarine base in saint-nazaire, france, in september 2012. the rooftop has been transformed from a maze of concrete and iron walkways by the installation of patches of plantation. from arid plots of grass and flowers to lines of trees, this art installation by gilles clément forms part of the estuaire art trail from nantes to this western port. titled 'le jardin du tiers paysage', our curiosity to investigate an apparently barren space delivered a continuous reward of vistas and vegetation. it comprises a record of a person's journey across this elevated area on an iphone 3gs, capturing many moments of what that person was videoing on an iphone 4g
